The American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) honored APSHO with two awards for the third year in a row. In their annual competition, ASHPE recognizes outstanding editorial excellence and achievement in the field of health-care publication. The awards program provides publications an opportunity to measure their work against the very best in the health-care sector.
APSHO was awarded the following commendations.
• Silver Award for Best Use of Video, “Mrs. Doubtfire, Wonder Woman, Spartacus: Roles of Advanced Practitioners”
• Bronze Award in the Best Newsletter Category for the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2018 issues of the APSHO Advance
The video was shown at the beginning of the 2018 annual educational conference for advanced practitioners, JADPRO Live, and takes creative license to demonstrate and celebrate the many “roles” that advanced practitioners play both inside and outside of the clinic, including serving as patient advocates, teachers, and leaders.
The quarterly members-only newsletter for APSHO, the APSHO Advance, is an important medium to inform, engage, and empower advanced practitioners through articles on society business and emerging topics in cancer care. The newsletter is led by section editors who are members of the Communications Committee and direct the content for each department every quarter. Each issue includes news coverage, member spotlights, a list of newly approved oncology drugs, and feature articles on relevant issues in oncology advanced practice.
